Based in Italy in 1899, a seductive medium by the name of Alessandra Poverelli, levitates a table at a séance in Naples. The ordeal was photographed, and a wealthy, skeptical, Jewish psychiatrist comes to investigate. He risks everything to finance a tour of the Continent to test her powers. This will help her escape her sadistic husband and move to Rome. Newspapers across Europe tell her story and the public wants to know if she really has supernatural powers.
An exciting read, the mystery of what happens next will keep you interested. It’s not a long book and you can finish it in a day. However, the author could have made a better choice when directing the POV.
