Review: Tiger Boy

Tiger Boy Tiger Boy by Mitali Perkins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A young boy named Neel puts everything on hold to help find a tiger cub that has escaped a nature reserve near Neel’s island village. He risks his scholarship at a boarding school far from home to save this cub from being killed and sold on the black market by a rich man that has just moved to the island. He learns that sometimes you have to take risks for the ones you love.

It was a quick book, but very moving. It was a bit difficult to get into at first because most of the characters are pretty unlikeable at first, but once the search for the cub escalates, it really improved. Though it felt like the author was preaching about the virtues of studying hard. I think that should be toned down a little bit, but overall the story was very compelling!
